Laboratory

Sophisticated laboratories in community hospitals are few and far between. Recognizing the important role clinical labs have in hospital environments, Ochiltree General Hospital has always had a commitment to the people of Ochiltree County to maintain their lab capabilities.

Accredidation 

The laboratory at Ochiltree General is tested continually, using actual samples, by the American Proficiency Institute to ensure all laboratory tests are executed accurately so that labs of all sizes nationwide get the same results.  Every laboratory in the U.S. is held to the same standard with each facility being inspected regularly by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)through the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) Program.  The laboratory at Ochiltree General Hospital also works under the supervision of a pathologist.

Convenience 

The laboratory at Ochiltree General sends results daily to health care providers not only throughout Texas, but also neighboring states and has even on occasion dealt with other countries.  And thanks to modern technology, your doctor in Amarillo, Dallas, Oklahoma City or anywhere else in the world will have your results as quickly as if they were located in Perryton. 

 

Services

The on-site laboratory at Ochiltree General is able to complete most of the lab work required for patients locally, before sending a report directly to the patient's primary care physician or specialist. Providing responsive results in an efficient and timely manner to the medical providers and patients of the Texas Panhandle is a top priority here at Ochiltree General. The laboratory at Ochiltree General completes nearly 90 percent of tests within 24 hours. Laboratory services at Ochiltree General Hospital include:

 

  • Chemistry

  • Hematology

  • Coagulation

  • Urinalysis

  • Microbiology

  • Immunology/Serology

  • Special chemistry

  • BreathID Breath Test for H. pylori

  • Offsite testing for specialized labs, including:

    • Hepatitis

    • Tuberculosis cultures

    • West Nile Virus
