OGH Healthcare Foundation Announces Gift to Ochiltree General Hospital

Updated: Oct 7, 2021

September 28, 2021 – The OGH Healthcare Foundation is proud to announce a $2,500,000.00 gift to Ochiltree General Hospital allowing your local hospital to begin construction on a state-of-the-art surgery center right here in our community.

The Surgery Center at OGH will provide state-of-the-art surgery facilities to rural Ochiltree, Hansford, Lipscomb, Hemphill and surrounding counties. Through a capital fundraising effort which has involved the entirety of our Capital Campaign Committees as well as an outpouring of support from local residents, area businesses and grant opportunities, the Surgery Center at OGH is well on its way to becoming a reality.

“The OGH Healthcare Foundation would like to thank every local community member and business who has made a gift to the OGH Healthcare Foundation since its inception in 2018,” says OGH Healthcare Foundation Board President Brent Allen. “Without the support of our local community, this gift and the Surgery Center at OGH would not have been possible.”

Though the existing 4,000 square foot OR Services space at Ochiltree General provides a safe environment to perform vital surgical procedures, the proposed upgrades and additions that would comprise the Surgery Center at OGH would increase efficiency and safety for both staff and patients. Phase 1 of the project – renovation of the c-section surgery suite – has already been completed. Bringing the 5,600 square foot Surgery Center at OGH to life will be accomplished in two additional phases. Phase 2 – a $3,140,500.00 projected project - will add approximately 5,710 square feet of space to the total Surgical Suite while Phase 3 – remodeling of the 4,500 square foot PACU and OR Services space – will be at a cost of $2,092,500.00.

As we prepare for the years ahead, it is our goal to ensure our residents have access to the highest quality healthcare. Through the services of our local and guest practitioners, Ochiltree General will able to increase the quality-of-care and level of comfort patients experience inside our hospital while also helping to boost the local economy via increased traffic to Perryton as well as additional job opportunities for medical professionals.

While we are celebrating the groundbreaking and soon-to-begin construction of The Surgery Center at OGH, the goal of fundraising for further OGH expansion and community health needs is far from over. If you would like to make a gift to the OGH Healthcare Foundation, please contact Lynsey at 806-648-7402 or by emailing lmcanally@oghtx.com.
