July 8, 2020 – Ochiltree General Hospital is excited to announce the availability of COVID-19 antibody testing right here at home as of Wednesday, July 1, 2020, with orders from a physician.
The Beckman Coulter Access SARS-CoV-2 IgG assay was selected to be the backbone of the Ochiltree General Laboratory COVID-19 testing program because of its outstanding performance during a rigorous evaluation brought about by the Coronavirus pandemic. Laboratory staff at Ochiltree General found when running the Beckman Coulter SARA-CoV-2 assay on our confirmed in-house COVID-19 patient samples, a test sensitivity of more than 99 percent at 14 days post testing.
“With all the confusion created by the initial influx of poor-quality antibody tests, the Laboratory at Ochiltree General worked meticulously to find a highly sensitive and specific assay to take care of our physicians and patients needs while ensuring the results are the best available,” states OGH Laboratory Department Director Tony Black. “We are proud to be offering this level of COVID-19 antibody testing right here at your hometown hospital.”
