OGH Announces Groundbreaking of New Surgery Center

October 6, 2021 – Ochiltree General Hospital is proud to announce that members of the Ochiltree County Hospital District Board of Directors, the OGH Healthcare Foundation Board of Directors, local medical staff and hospital administration recently took part in a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate construction beginning on the Surgery Center at OGH. The Surgery Center – a long-time dream of many at OGH as well as throughout our community – will provide state-of-the-art surgery facilities to rural Ochiltree, Hansford, Lipscomb, Hemphill and surrounding counties.

“The hope for this project has always been that we can continue offering surgery services through construction completion,” says OGH Chief Operating Officer Kelly Judice. “The first phase of this project – renovation of the c-section surgery suite – has already been completed allowing us to begin the second phase – the new construction phase – of the project. Moving in this order will give our hospital the ability to continue offering high-quality care in a brand-new space while we move on to renovating the existing surgery suite here at Ochiltree General.”

Though the existing 4,000 square foot OR Services space at Ochiltree General provides a safe environment to perform vital surgical procedures, the proposed upgrades and additions that would comprise the Surgery Center at OGH would increase efficiency and safety for both staff and patients. Bringing the Surgery Center at OGH to life will be accomplished in the two additional phases mentioned above. Phase 2 – a $3,140,500.00 projected project - will add approximately 5,710 square feet of space to the total Surgical Suite while Phase 3 – remodeling of the 4,500 square foot PACU and OR Services space – will be at a cost of $2,092,500.00.

“Our hospital would like to once again thank our community for the tremendous amount of support so many individuals have given to this project,” says Judice. “This hospital was built upon concerned community members seeing a need and making it happen. Everyone at Ochiltree General is proud to be a part of building the future of our hospital through the support of our friends and neighbors.”

While construction of the Surgery Center is taking place on the north side of the main hospital complex, Ochiltree General would like to assure all of our Physical Therapy patients – current and future – that there is abundant parking available immediately in front of the Physical Therapy building to make your visit as smooth as possible.

Ochiltree General Hospital, your hometown critical access hospital, offers an expansive collection of programs and services designed with you in mind. From our Obstetrics and Women’s Health services to the programs at The Seasons Assisted Living, our aim is to provide for you and your loved ones no matter the stage of life or need.
